The Douglas County Chamber of Commerce is launching a young professionals group in 2008 designed to introduce young men and women to Douglas County's resources and opportunities.

The Young Professionals Connection (YPC) is a way for young business professionals in the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce to connect with each other. YPC fosters personal and professional member development through social events, community service and professional opportunities for Douglasville's savvy, sophisticated younger set.

"Through this fun and friendly group we're helping you connect with your peers, connect with your community and connect with your future!" says Co-Chair Megan McKoy.

The group, designed for young professionals ages 24-36 in the Douglas County community who are employees of a chamber member business, debuted at the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce Banquet in February. The first gathering of YPC was Thursday, Feb. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chaunce's, 9340 The Landing Drive, Douglasville off Chapel Hill Road. Light appetizers were served and attendees will had the chance to immediately connect with a large group of their peers through a fun session of speed networking.

"There is no charge to attend, but a great attitude will ensure that you get the best possible experience out of the group!" says McKoy.

GreyStone Power's McKoy and Chad Benton with Gold's Gym are co-chairing the group. YPC committee members include Justin Shealey with DeNyse Signs, Taylor Craig with Processing Solutions, Jenny Baker and Stacy Banks with DC Bank and Amber Wilburn with the Chamber of Commerce.

Upcoming events include the Taste of the Grape, May 17th and a luncheon May 21. To get on the mailing list or for more information, email wilburn@douglascountygeorgia.com Interested young professionals may also join the group through the web communities of facebook and myspace; simply search for 'Young Professionals Connection.'
