About the Youth Leadership Douglas Program
The Douglas County Chamber of Commerce’s youth leadership program, Youth Leadership Douglas(YLD), is now accepting applications for the 2011-2012 program. This program is for high school juniors in public and private schools in Douglas County.
Youth Leadership Douglas gives high school students the opportunity to acquire and broaden their knowledge of not only social & business etiquette but also of local government, business and civic activities through a 4 month leadership program. The program has been recently redeveloped and will provide students with personal and professional development opportunities that cater to each individual. The program will allow students to embrace the changes of technology by submitting their assignments through various social media outlets and also to select their assignments based on their personal interests.
Youth Leadership Douglas has an April 1 deadline for application, and applications must be submitted to their local HS counselor. The program will consist of a Fall and Spring session. The Fall class will begin its new program in July and end in December while the spring class run from January to April of 2012. Two sophomores (rising juniors) from each Douglas County high school (both public and private) will be selected by their school faculty and administration and also the Youth Leadership Douglas Coordinator. Students must apply and qualify through and application and interview process, which is under the direction of the individual school and Youth Leadership Douglas Coordinator.
