This is Douglas – Meet Ann

Hi, I’m Ann.

Most people know me from The Red Cockerill Gallery, which my husband, Bill and I started in 1975 at the age of 22. I love to paint and frame art.  My father was Wesley Brannon who owned Brannon Supply Co. and built houses in the Sweetwater Valley. He and his brother George owned the golf course and swimming pool behind Frog Rock.

What most people don’t know is how my interest in art began. At 16, my first piece was as a one-year-old in a body cast, drawing on the wall. Several body casts later, I learned about persistence, drawing, and painting daily. It taught me patience as well. I learned that art can let your imagination free to not be confined by your circumstances.

Teaching and framing other’s creations was a way I could give back to the Douglas community, which has supported us for 46 years.

Douglas County holds so much inspiration for artists! I love the parks and butterfly trails. I love to paint “Plein Air” the granite rocks and little waterfalls behind our house. We live in Beulah community in Douglasville and it certainly is a piece of heaven, so we call it Beulah Land!

This is me, Ann. And THIS…. is Douglas.
